Lies Lies Everywhere Lies

As I look around, I often find myself flabbergasted at the way others treat each other.  I see how many people think it's ok to whisper behind other's backs, spread ridiculous rumors, throw around accusations like they're nothing, and then turn around and talk about how much they want to be friends with everyone.  All the while, here I am shaking my head at all of this nonsense.
But, let's face it.  That is how people are nowadays, isn't it?  So many people I have met seem to have split personalities.  Friendly to someone one minute and then literally the next minute they are turning to another person, and whispering how much they don't like that person.  People are spewing hatred all over the internet.  Whispering about "that girl" on Twitter.  Slamming "that guy" on their blogs.  Talking trash about their real life friends at dinner with other friends.
How is this ok?  How is it ok for you, or her, or him to say these things about others who more than half the time you've never met?  My conclusion is because everyone hides behind the internet.  These people are cowards.  Because I imagine that non of these things would actually be said to anyone's face.  The internet is safe for many, so they feel they can be a hater and get away with it.
All I will say, is watch what you say.  Because the minute it leaves your keyboard and is out there, and people read, or hear about it, it'll get around.  That person you have been talking about?  Yep.  9 times out of 10 - they'll hear about it.  They'll know who said it.  They'll know it was you.

So, internet.  Is it worth it?  Spewing lies, hatred and rumors about others on Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, Text Messages, etc?

All I see is a bunch of immature babies who are jealous, and the only way they know how to deal with it is to cut others down.  Think real hard who your friends are, whether online or in your real day to day life.  Are they really your friends, or do they have split personalities too?
